February is American Heart Month

The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association are asking you to recognize February as American Heart Month and Make a Difference – One Heart at a time.  The American Heart Association has identified their Simple 7, which are Heart Health Factors that you should be watching.  They include:

  • ·       Activity Levels
  • ·       Blood Pressure
  • ·       Cholesterol Levels
  • ·       Blood Sugar
  • ·       Body Weight
  • ·       Smoking Habits
  • ·        Diet Choices

They also are offering a free assessment to see where you rank in each of these categories.  It’s called My Life Check and it takes about seven minutes to complete to see your Heart Score.  You will also get a free report at the end of the assessment that shows you where you are now, what you can do, and what the ideal levels for each category are. It helps you develop an action plan to support your heart!

To take your own Life Check you can visit mylifecheck.heart.org and take a pledge to make changes to protect your heart, starting today.
